COMPANY PROFILE

Polymer of the Montecatini group, from which Meraklon derives, started its staple fiber production in 1960 and, ten years later, the production of bulk yarn for carpet application.

In the following years the Company, owned by Montedison/Himont group, develops gradually its production capacity in staple and yarn.

On January 1st 1998, Meraklon was born as independent Company.

During the years 1998-2001, considerable investments have been realized with the start-up of two staple manufacturing lines and a new yarn production line.

In 1999, Meraklon bought from Radici, Polymekon, a company manufacturing staple in Zibido (near Milan).

During 2003, following the Company rationalisation plan, Zibido's staple manufacturing lines have been moved and concentrated in one site: Terni.

The staple and yarn lines are located in the same industrial area as the raw material production plant and cover an area of 140.000 sq.mt. Production amounts to a total of 65.000 tons/years of staple and to a total of 10.000 tons/years of continuous filament.

Meraklon employs about 290 people. On the market Meraklon emerges as one of the main European producers of staple fiber and yarn.

It is an innovative Company who, exploiting forty years experience, technological know–how and consolidate raw materials knowledge, offers new fiber solutions satisfying the market requirements.
