The low chemical affinity, the antisoiling and abrasion resistance and the possibility of bulk coloration with a wide range of colours and it's combinations, have shown the first commercial success of the bulk continuous filament made by Meraklon, in the carpet sector in 1970.

Today the polyolefin fiber is the first in the needle punched floor covering while in the tufted the continuous filament is the second after nylon.
